TransLingo built the TransLingo extension as a free and open-source service. This service is provided by TransLingo and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of information if anyone decides to use our service.

If you choose to use our service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The information that we process is used for providing and improving the service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

Data Collection: To provide and improve the service, TransLingo processes only data required for extension functionality, including:

• Text you explicitly select for translation.
• Provider API keys and extension settings you enter.
• Translation history stored locally (up to 30 entries).
• Local request rate-limit counters.

No account registration is required. TransLingo does not intentionally collect personal identity data such as your name, phone number, or email address.

Data Transmission: Some translation and authentication data is transmitted via secure network connections (HTTPS) to the provider you selected (OpenAI, DeepSeek, or Qwen/DashScope) in order to return translation results.

Third-Party Sharing: Translation request data is shared only with the provider you selected for translation processing. No data is sold, and no data is shared for advertising or profiling purposes.

Other Information Collection: This extension uses local storage technology (browser.storage.local) to save settings, API keys, history, and local rate-limit state. You can clear translation history at any time from the extension interface.

But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
